Book Covers

Fantasy
This book cover really caught my eye because I like fairies and things that are a little bit dark. I like the use of the back ground and how its a bit spooky but also how its a bit mysterious. Also I like it because it doesn't give the audience too much information about the story its self. At first look I thought the book for me about fallen angels or fairies, but in actually fact the book is about a girl who is being stalked by dark shadows. Obviously there is sign of destress shown in the cover but the audience can't tell why, leaving them guessing and wanted to read the book.

Horror
I picked this book cover because I feel it represents its genre perfectly. Straight away you can tell that this book has a spooky feel about as the cover is dark and parts are out of focus. The use of black, white and grey also helps to portray the genre, because if it was bright and colourful it would give the audience a different impression.
The text used on this cover stands out from the background and it is white, but even though white can represent "pure", the use of white and the font used adds to the spooky effect. Also the quote "Scary, entertaining, suspenseful ...unputdownable", gives the audience another opinion of the book, and because it is from Stephen King, one of the most famous horror writers, shows the audience it must be scary!
