Large format cameras use a film size: 5"x4" and 10"x8" - getting 16 - 3 shot per roll.
The main advantage of large format, film or digital, is higher resolution. A 4×5 inch image has about 16 times the area, and thus 16× the total resolution, of a 35 mm frame. Therefore editing and adjusting the size of these images would be a lot easier, you easier use them for billboards or posters without losing any of the quality. Large format cameras are perfect for landscape and studio photography because you need more time to set the shot up and focus the camera. Also it is good for these because the equipment is not very portable so you would not be able to carry it far distances with ease. As well as this it does take a lot of time to load and reload because you can only get 2 sheets of film per dark slide. Large format are very expensive and if you want to get a digital back to it you are looking at more money!
